Children's Education Issues
There are a number of duties placed on Education Authorities in relation to children’s education needs and these are principally currently set out in the Education (Additional Support for Learning) (Scotland) Act 2004 as amended by the Education (Additional Support for Learning) (Scotland) Act 2009.
If your child is struggling at school and needs extra help they may be entitled to extra support. You may feel that your child would benefit from attending a specific school. We can help in relation to making a request to the relevant Authority for your child to attend that school and how to handle a refusal of a placing request.
There are appeal processes, which can be followed in the event that you are unhappy with any decision made by an Education Authority relative to your child. We can assist with representation at these Hearings or in helping you to prepare for them yourself.
